About me

My name's Neil Gevaux. I work at the University of York as the Computing and Research Technician for the Archaeology Department. I look after the IT for the department, build PCs, and carry out work for archaeological projects like Star Carr and The Viking Craft Network. I have experience in content creation, and I've made promotional videos for departmental courses and other cool things.

You can also find me teaching technical skills in the Department, such as Working on the Web, Digital Imaging and Using Archaeological Data.

I also build websites for projects and businesses. I love front-end web development and UX. I'm skilled in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. Have a look in the Projects section to check out some of my work.

I am also into data and data visualisation, having worked with archaeological data in some form for almost 20 years. It's a really important mechanism for understanding things in different ways.

I'm involved in 3D modelling of objects too. I use Structure from Motion techniques to make visualisations of archaeological objects. Check them out at Sketchfab.

I've created this site to showcase some of my professional and personal interests. I hope you enjoy it! Feel free to get in touch by email or social media :)
